KWN 2010 Program Terms & Conditions
1. Schools
1.1 Criteria for school participation:
a) All government schools under Ministry of Education
b) Open to students between 10 to15 years old as of Jan 2010.
c) Each school to form a team of 6 students and 1 teacher as facilitator.
d) Each school can form not more than 3 teams.
e) Each team can submit any number of storyboards.
1.2 Selection of Schools:
a) Schools will be selected based on the successful story board entry by panel of judges.
b) All schools that have taken part in the past years of KWN program and own Panasonic video equipment are
encouraged to participate and submit their storyboards.
c) Successful schools will be notified by email or letter.
d) Successful schools will be invited to attend the KWN Training Camp.

2. Register
2.1 To participate, register your school online at www.kwnmalaysia.com by stating name of school, address, contact no.
tel fax, team members, teacher-in-charge, name of School Principal, theme, storyboard title and short description of storyboard.

3. Storyboard
3.1 Themes:
i) Ecology
ii) Communication
3.2 Language:
Preferably in English. If other language is used, sub-title in English is required.
3.3 Story Board Preparation:
a) Schools to prepare a story board based on a theme.
b) Download and use the KWN storyboard template in the KWN website [How To Enrol] for storyboard preparation.
c) Each school is welcome to submit more than one storyboard.
3.4 Story Board Submission:
a) All storyboards must be submitted by 25 March 2010
b) Send storyboard by emai to: kwn@pm.panasonic.com.my or by post to:

4. Video
4.1 Video Production:
a) Plan, direct and produce video based on the theme chosen for the storyboard.
b) Assign your team with specific roles like script writer, cameraman, producer, editor, music coordinator,
anchorperson and a teacher as facilitator.
c) Duration of video is 5 minutes.
d) Create video that tells an interesting story and choose the format that will best deliver your message either in the
form of:
i) Documentary
ii) News
iii) Drama
iv) Public Service Announcement
e) Video clips must have clear message from students as you see it from your own eyes, not adult perspective and
appealing to the viewers.
f) Include English subtitles in video work if native/local languages are used.
g) Students are encouraged to use their creativity and originality in presenting their message in the video production
from script, videography, sound, editing and the overall video performance.
h) Students can decide or choose any locations suitable for the video shooting.
i) Students conducting interviews must wear KWN T-shirt* and use microphones with KWN microphone cube in the
video clip.
(*To be provided upon confirmation of selection).
j) All video shooting must be made using Panasonic Digital Video Camera.
k) Students are encouraged to use computer for editing or creative work.
l) Make copy of original video shooting for record purpose.
4.2 Video Equipment:
a) A set of KWN equipment consisting of digital video camera, media storage and other accessories will be provided
to participating schools.
4.3 Video Submission:
a) Schools to complete video production according to deadline.
b) Prepare and submit synopsis (short write-up of video in no more than 80 words) including team’s experience and
lessons learned, name of school, video title, team members, teacher & school principle [Sample will be given
as guide]
c) Compile and submit photos taken during the video production process preferably with captions.
d) All video submission requires approval from the School Principal.
e) Entries submitted must be clear of copyright infringements.
f) Panasonic Malaysia reserves the right to use the names and photograph submitted, for all publicity purposes.
g) Participants must keep all production raw materials till 30 June 2011.
h) The judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entertained.
i) Panasonic reserves the rights to change the terms and conditions without any prior notice.
j) All video submissions to include:
i) Video production in DVD disc
ii) Copy of original video shooting in Mini DV tape
iii) Synopsis of video
iv) Photos of team members, video in the making in CDs
k) Submit your video work by 30 August 2010 to:

5. Training
5.1 Training Camp:
a) Panasonic will organize a hands-on training camp conducted by Panasonic team and industry professionals
for students & teachers selected for KWN program.
b) Training manuals will also be provided.
c) All training expenses for teachers & students (meal & accommodation) will be borne by Panasonic
d) Transportation cost for selected KWN teams from East and West Malaysia will be borne by Panasonic.

6. Judging
6.1 Judging Criteria
a) Judging will be based on the following criteria:
i) Clear message expressed by the students in their own perspective and creativity based on the theme chosen.
ii) Technical aspects like videography, script, sound, editing and overall video performance.
6.2 Panel of Judges
Panel of judges comprise of professionals from film, advertising, media, Panasonic and Ministry of Education.

7. Contest & Awards Ceremony
7.1 Contest Level
a) National Contest
b) Regional Contest
c) Global Contest
7.2 National Contest & Awards Ceremony
a) Students and teachers from winning schools will be invited for the Awards Ceremony in Kuala Lumpur
[details to be informed].
b) Full boarding for students and teachers attending the National Competition & Awards ceremony will be borne
by Panasonic Malaysia.
c) Transportation cost for finalist schools from East and West Malaysia will be borne by Panasonic.
d) Winning team for National Contest will represent Malaysia for Regional Contest.
7.3 Regional Contest & Awards Ceremony
a) 7 countries - Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and Vietnam representing the
Asia Oceania region will compete in the Regional Contest.
b) Each country is represented by 2 students and 1 teacher.
c) Venue for Regional contest will be advised.
7.4 Global Contest & Awards Ceremony
a) Winning video from National Contest will enter the Global contest to compete with participating countries from
Asia Oceania, Japan, China, United Arab Emirates, Europe, Canada and United States.
b) If the winning video from Malaysia is selected, the team will be invited to attend the Global Awards Ceremony in
New York or Japan.
